History of the Henry J. Smith Charitable Trust

The Henry J. Smith Charitable Trust was established in 1996 for the sole purpose of financially supporting St. Malachy School in Rantoul, Illinois.

Mr. Smith’s estate plan made provisions for seed money to be given to the school exclusively for the funding of special programs that enhance the educational offerings at St. Malachy School. Religious, scientific, literary, and computer studies, along with capital improvements and teachers’ salaries related to these areas of study, have all benefited from Mr. Smith’s generosity.

Since the inception of the Trust, countless others have graciously continued to donate to St. Malachy School helping to keep alive Mr. Smith’s dream of providing our students with the tools necessary to achieve their goals.

The Henry J. Smith Charitable Trust for St. Malachy School is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt trust organization as defined under section 509 (a)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, thereby making contributions tax deductible to the full extent allowable under the law.
